Structured Finance Associate at SolarCity in Silicon Valley

In this position, the ideal candidate will work closely with the other members of the Structured Finance team to support our financing activities, including:

  • Be a central member on investment fund deal teams
  • Manage financial models of existing and future tax-equity and debt products
  • Support sales team in RFPs and pricing for special situations
  • Prepare collateral materials for investor presentations
  • Coordinate with Government Affairs team to evaluate and recommend federal, state and local renewable energy incentive policy changes
  • Identify and create financial solutions for new product offerings and geographic market needs
  • Represent Project Finance group on cross-functional company teams
  • Ad hoc analysis including market trends and SolarCity operations

 

Responsibilities

The right candidate will be well organized, a team player, and able to effectively manage the demands of multiple simultaneous projects. The successful candidate should able to build accurate and well-structured MS Excel-based financial models for external audiences quickly and under deadline. The successful candidate should also be a good communicator who can effectively interface with senior management, customers, and investors. Finally, the successful candidate should have a strong dose of practicality, stamina, common sense, and self-confidence.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a top-tier school, ideally in a quantitative or technical field
  • A minimum of two years experience in corporate finance, ideally as an Analyst in a top-tier investment bank
  • Expert with MS Excel, and highly skilled with other MS Office products including PowerPoint, Word and Visio
  • Ability to communicate complicated and technical points clearly both verbally and in writing
  • Able to rapidly assimilate and synthesize lots of information quickly
  • Able to work effectively in cross-functional teams
  • Ability to travel on occasion (>20%)
  • A sense of humor and tolerance for ambiguity
  • Familiarity with financial/accounting principles,
  • Project finance experience
  • Some familiarity with solar PV industry players, economics, and trends.
  • Some understanding of database architecture and design, or have learned at least one programming language (SQL, VBA, etc.)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
  • Excellent customer service skills required
  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background screen
